South Africa’s Cannes Predictions 2024
IDIDTHAT is kicking off our countdown to The Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity with South Africa’s Cannes Predictions! We’ve brought together a team of creative heavyweights to view the work entered by South Africa into Cannes this year and choose the work they think will turn heads. South Africa’s One Show Work & Winners
It’s time for The One Show results everyone! When we heard South Africa had 21 finalists this year we damn near Black Eyed Pea’d ourselves and exclaimed ‘Boom Boom Pow’. Now it’s great to see this incredible work convert. Congratulations to all of you! With over 50 countries and regions around the world entering, this is big for South Africa. Well done.
Audio Militia takes AI craft to new heights to bring rapper Riky Rick’s legacy back to life for one last song.
February 2022, South Africa mourned the passing of musician Riky Rick, who tragically suffered from mental health issues. Before we lost Riky, he shared his final tweet ‘I’ll return a stronger man’ with the world. One year later, Audio Militia and TBWA, with the clever use of AI technology, brought Riky’s legacy back to life, by releasing one final song, a moving tribute to his legacy and the launch of The Riky Rick Foundation. The Foundation has been created by Riky’s family in his honour to help people with mental health issues.

IDIDTHAT Craft Awards April 2023
This month’s IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards were judged by the illustrious Marcus Moshapalo, Executive Creative Director at VMLY&R and Tebogo Malope, Director at The Star Film Company. We’re not sure if you’re all using AI technology in ways that we haven’t thought of, because damn there was a lot of good work this month! Audio Militia reloaded; new studios, new EP, new division
Launched over 15 years ago, Audio Militia has established itself as one of the leading specialists in post-production sound in South Africa. More recently though these veterans have seriously been shaking things up at company HQ. We spoke to Co-Founder and CEO Nick Argyros and newly promoted Executive Producer Catherine Grenfell about their new and incredibly cool centralised studios and a recently developed division that offers easy translation and dubbing services to expand projects into broader African markets.
