Let’s face it, team Spitfire has never quite fit into the traditional production company box. Over the past 10 years they have always approached work with the same attitude of ‘Where there’s a screen, there’s an opportunity’. But hey, a production company that has an in-house Head of Content is a production company that just thinks differently.
This month’s IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards were judged by the very top of our Xmas wishlist; Grant Sithole, Chief Product Officer of Publicis Groupe Africa and Nicole Ackermann, Director at Romance. This was a particularly tough month to judge with a lot of stand-out work, but rising to the top is Paul Ward from Giant Films and Tristan Holmes from The Star Film Company.
This month’s IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards were judged by the superbly talented all-seeing all-knowing oracles that are Jacquie Mullany, Creative Director at HelloFCB+ and Grant De Sousa, Director at They. SHE DID THAT is a female filmmakers showcase that shines a spotlight on the women in the South African production industry. Although we will only be featuring women and non-binary people, the goal is that it will encourage the inclusion of more underrepresented filmmakers across all production work created by South Africans. This month features Alexa Wilson from Arcade, Ceara McEvoy from Video Cartel and Hloni Ntsooa from Spitfire Films.
This month's IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards were judged by Mohlalefi Lentsoane, Executive Creative Director at M&C Saatchi Abel (JHB) and Mfundo Mkhize, Director at The Star Film Company. Congratulations to Kyla Philander and Fausto Becatti walking away with May's Craft Awards. We don't know what they put in the water at Bioscope Films (maybe Corona and Espolōn Tequila??) but it's working!
Over 4 years ago JT Moatshe joined Spitfire as their in-house sound designer and music composer. Fiercely in love with film, curious and eager to learn, he worked his way up to videographer and photographer and eventually found his seat at the table as a fully-fledged Spitfire director. JT has already built up quite a reel of content and commercials, but what makes this filmmaker such an agile director is his ability to combine his visuals with his ear for music and sound design chops. Here’s why JT Moatshe should be on your radar.
This month’s IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards were judged by the myths, the legends, the icons themselves; Sibusiso Sitole, CCO and Co-Founder of The Odd Number and Lourens van Rensburg, Director at 7Films. Congrats to Christian van der Walt, Novak Miler, Ben van der Walt and Stanley Segal from Sinister Studios and Fausto Becatti from Bioscope Films for being awarded Best in Craft for January.
Here we showcase South Africa's stand-out work. This is the work that was awarded by the Creative Circle and represents the best our country has to offer. Basically, if you don’t have these companies on speed dial for 2022, ag shame man.
