Congratulations to the man, the myth, the legend himself, Greg Gray on nabbing this month's Best in Craft.
SHE DID THAT is a female filmmakers showcase that shines a spotlight on the women in the South African production industry. Although we will only be featuring women and non-binary people, the goal is that it will encourage the inclusion of more underrepresented filmmakers across all production work created by South Africans. This month features Alexa Wilson from Arcade, Ceara McEvoy from Video Cartel and Hloni Ntsooa from Spitfire Films.
Since joining Arcade almost 3 years ago, director Alexa Wilson has consistently been creating work across diverse genres, from comedy spots, car and finance ads to moodier alcohol commercials. The Alexa thread that is carried through all this work is her strong visual language, local texture and meticulous attention to detail.
This month's IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards were judged by Mohlalefi Lentsoane, Executive Creative Director at M&C Saatchi Abel (JHB) and Mfundo Mkhize, Director at The Star Film Company. Congratulations to Kyla Philander and Fausto Becatti walking away with May's Craft Awards. We don't know what they put in the water at Bioscope Films (maybe Corona and Espolōn Tequila??) but it's working!

Director Imraan Christian is updating his bio to include ‘Arcade Director’ to his already prestigious list of titles. In addition to bringing an honest grassroots approach to his work, Imraan is an emotionally intelligent filmmaker. Whether it’s his award-winning music videos, commercials or his internationally acclaimed photography and documentary work, they are all beautifully executed and grounded in thoughtful storytelling.

Following the whirlwind success of their previous music documentary, Future Sound of Mzansi, filmmakers Lebogang Rasethaba and Nthato Mokgata team up again to direct MUTANT, an intimate documentary portrait film featuring Isaac Mutant, a controversial and outspoken rapper from the Cape Flats. The film took 6 years to complete, which allows audiences to witness Isaac’s character evolve on screen, from being a militant and agitated aggressor to a man in pursuit of a greater peace.
