This month’s IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards landed on the desks of two very good brains: Chief Creative Officer at VML South Africa, Fran Luckin, and Jono Hall, Director at Gentlemen Films. Congrats to Lourens van Rensburg of 7 Films and Paul Ward from Giant Films for taking home top spots. Properly earned. Loud applause gents.
This month’s IDIDTHAT.co Craft Awards were in excellent hands, judged by two of the industry’s finest: Sbu Sitole, Chief Creative Officer at The Odd Number, and director Zwelethu Radebe from Egg Films. A massive congratulations to this month’s top crafters, directors Sanaa Mothabisa from Sanaa Films and Zee Ntuli from Darling Films, for work that the judges thought stood out. Nice one gents!
Comedy chaos, community drama, and a very big billboard in a very small yard. Flying Fish’s latest spot has all the ingredients of a “Surprisingly Good” mockumentary. Brought to life by Joe Public and directed by Jono Hall from Gentlemen Films, the hilariously escalating ad puts performance and tone front and centre.
Gentlemen Films director Jono Hall’s debut film ‘Awake’ is a bold and captivating emotional experience that lingers in your memory and behind your eyelids long after you’ve watched it. Breaking free from the constraints of the commercials world, ‘Awake’ serves as a testament to Jono’s ever-expanding talent at creating striking work that is classy and restrained, yet still able to deliver utterly unexpected and attention-grabbing moments. It is a meticulously crafted film made by a confident visual storyteller who shows every indication of levelling-up in his career. Hell yeah!
Four Directors. Four short films. One "star".
We track the blazing year that Director Jono Hall from Darling Films had! The versatile director also makes time to pay tribute to Stephen Hawking, take some intimate shelfies, share the importance of a cricket bat on set and there’s even a helluva disturbing image of him on a tiger #Grrr
Executive Creative Director at Publicis Machine, Gareth McPherson, has come a long way since roaming the cutthroat halls of Rondebosch Boys’ High. Lucky for us Gareth rose above this adversity and is now a badass creative leader and we’re honoured to have him judge this month’s iDidTht Craft Awards.
