Sketchbook Studios signs director Ramon Mellett, ‘He’s not our funny guy’

Before becoming a commercials director, Ramon Mellet worked as an editor, photographer and DOP. This production background gives him an edge on any set. Having also worked for years as a graffiti artist in his earlier life, the non-conformist subculture has perhaps disposed Ramon to ‘keeping it real’ which is evident in his authentic approach to his visual and narrative storytelling.

South Africa wins 7 Pencils at the One Show 2021 (View the work)

South Africa did us proud this year bringing home Metal and Merits for days! Congrats you beauties. Here we showcase all the work by our IDIDTHAT members. Wild clapping and screaming for Promise, who nabbed a whole bloody CNA stationary section with their Gold, Bronze and Silver Pencils. We’ll keep the clapping going strong for TBWA Hunt Lascaris Johannesburg and their TWO Silvers, Joe Public United and 7 Films who both picked up Silver and Post Modern and Massif for their Bronze. You did us damn proud ❤

ARCADE PRESENTS ‘MUTANT’

Following the whirlwind success of their previous music documentary, Future Sound of Mzansi, filmmakers Lebogang Rasethaba and Nthato Mokgata team up again to direct MUTANT, an intimate documentary portrait film featuring Isaac Mutant, a controversial and outspoken rapper from the Cape Flats. The film took 6 years to complete, which allows audiences to witness Isaac’s character evolve on screen, from being a militant and agitated aggressor to a man in pursuit of a greater peace.

As Gregg Bailey approaches a decade of directing, he has announced that he will be joining the growing roster of talent at Robot. Well established as a performance director and considered storyteller, we know Gregg’s strength lies in crafting heartfelt intimate moments. New partners added to the Egg leadership team, directors Zwelethu Radebe and Lebogang Rasethaba

Following the news that Egg Films’ director Sunu stepped down as partner to focus on long-form, we were thrilled to hear that director Zwelethu Radebe and director and Arcade co-owner Lebogang Rasethaba are joining the leadership team as new partners. The two will work together with Executive Producer Colin Howard as the company’s owners and main shareholders.
