Outdoor Shortlisting Judge

Ana is inspired by ideas that connect people and is drawn to brands that stand for something, change how people engage with products and have knock-on effects that influence how people live their lives for the better.

However, she also wants to see advertising become playful again. She strongly believes that work doesn’t have to be serious to create a meaningful connection with an audience, and she enjoys operating in the sweet spot where impact meets entertainment.

Over a career spanning nearly twenty years, Ana has developed a keen sense for distinguishing between nice ideas and strong, effective solutions – which she has used to judge numerous awards shows locally and abroad. She has experience across diverse industries, including FMCG, auto, financial services, tech and mobile.

Her work has been recognised at awards shows both in her home country of South Africa and abroad, including Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, Loeries and The Bookmark Awards. Carel Scheepers 🇿🇦

Head of Strategy at Havas
Creative Strategy Shortlisting Judge

My name is Carel Scheepers, Head of Strategy. I wanted to be a wizard but settled on stories and advertising. I’m a coffee addict, chocoholic, and successfully managed to keep a Woolworths orchid alive for over a year.

I’m fascinated by people: what they say, what they eat, what they believe, what they do in their spare time, and most importantly – what they read.

All these quirks make us who we are – bodies trying to make a life that is memorable and hopefully passing on all our good traits in some form. The communications industry borrows a plethora of ideologies and pieces from all corners and sectors of the world. This is what makes our industry so interesting, we never know what the next big story will be.

We are all stories, whether we want to be, or not. We live in a world where new ideas are hard to come by, even if we don’t want to believe it. We have entered an era where we need to solve more complex problems than we ever imagined, and these problems have become far more collective. The time of ‘working alone’ is over.
