IDIDTHAT Presents ‘SHE DID THAT’
Welcome to IDIDTHAT’s monthly series where we shine a spotlight on the women in the South African production industry. SHE DID THAT makes it even easier to find local female filmmakers. Our hope is that this will become a talent showcase and a useful resource to access and discover the right people for your projects. Although we will only be featuring women and non-binary people, the goal is that it will encourage the inclusion of more underrepresented filmmakers across all production work created by South Africans.
Allison Swank Owen
Director at Giant Films
Allison’s style of filmmaking is rooted in a heartfelt curiosity about the world both past and present, with an emphasis on fringe and emerging cultures. She’s at home amongst artists and musicians and has had the honour of telling their stories in America and across the African continent.
Helen J. Raine
Director at The Rudeboy Collective
Helen J. Raine takes pride in crafting strong performance for camera. Visually, she has a stylistic approach, working to carefully balance narrative and aesthetic. She has directed commercials and branded content for notable brands such as Adidas, Volkswagen, KIA, Cell C, Jameson Irish Whisky, BBC, Elle Magazine, and Sprite. Helen forms part of director-duo team Helen + Kim.
