IDIDTHAT Presents ‘SHE DID THAT’
Welcome to IDIDTHAT’s monthly series where we shine a spotlight on the women in the South African production industry. The SHE DID THAT showcase makes it even easier to find local female filmmakers. Our hope is that this will become a talent showcase and a useful resource to access and discover the right people for your projects. Although we will only be featuring women and non-binary people, the goal is that it will encourage the inclusion of more underrepresented filmmakers across all production work created by South Africans.
Emilie Badenhorst
Director at Romance
Defined by a sensual visual style, Emilie’s direction skilfully uses performance and character to focus on the subject of shared human connection. She is a strong voice in a new generation of conscious filmmakers whose work empowers through intimacy and empathy.
Emily Bussace (Freelance)
Editor at Deliverance
Emily fell for editing while spending weeks in a tiny room cutting her honours documentary thesis on child pageants. Since then she has worked with top directors and producers on award-winning documentaries and commercials. Her love for and grounding in documentary film translates into a sensitivity and understanding of character and narrative which she brings to her commercial work.
What is the SHE DID THAT initiative
‘SHE DID THAT’ is an initiative created by IDIDTHAT.co to get more women working in the Commercial Film Production industry. SHE DID THAT showcases work done by women. SHE DID THAT connects women with industry leaders. SHE DID THAT creates opportunities for women to get work. SHE DID THAT gives a damn about women, non-binary, queer and trans talent in the commercial film production and advertising industry. If she did that, you’ll know that!
Spearheaded by Julie Maunder, Founder of IDIDTHAT.co and key connector in the advertising and production industry and Anne Hirsch, top writer for South Africa’s production industry and media and entertainment specialist.
