Girls in Film South Africa and Blackboard are continuing their commitment to creating greater access to the creative industries through a masterclass programme that brought young creatives into conversation with working filmmakers and industry practitioner
Director Sandulela Asanda, who recently joined Osu Creative Productions, has wasted no time making her mark. The release of her latest commercial for AfriSam not only validates Executive Producer Simoné Bobo’s initial instinct in recognising Sandulela’s talent as a performance and comedy director but also underscores her ability to collaborate with actors and non-actors alike. With a blend of humour, irreverence, and an innate understanding of youth culture, Sandulela proves herself to be a true force on the Osu roster.
SHE DID THAT is a female filmmakers showcase that shines a spotlight on the women in the South African production industry. Although we will only be featuring women and non-binary people, the goal is that it will encourage the inclusion of more underrepresented filmmakers across all production work created by South Africans. This month features Sandulela Asanda from Butterfly Films, Jeana Theron from Darling Films and Laurissa Vergottini from Carbon Films.
