South Africa’s #WorkToWatch judged by Nadja Lossgott and Jenny Glover.

#WorkToWatch features the best work by top South African Agencies in South Africa. Every month we team up with a top local Executive Creative Director and their nominated equally prominent international Creative Director to judge the work. Thank you to Nadja Lossgott, Creative Director at AMV BBDO in London, and Jenny Glover, Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris, for selecting the #WorkToWatch from South Africa this month.

Ogilvy & Mather Jhb & Geometry South Africa
SAB Spike Detector Coaster

Judges Comments by Nadja Lossgott, Creative Director at AMV BBDO London.

SAB Spike Detector Coaster by Ogilvy & Mather Jhb & Geometry South Africa:
“The idea is smart and valuable. Not only does it show you that your drink might have been spiked, it’s a warning to possible offenders and therefore possibly even preventative. It works as an alarm system. SAB is of course a perfect client to highlight the issue.”

Peaceful Sleep ‘Irritation Equations’ Radio by TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris:
“I really liked these. They are well written and produced. Conceptually you really get the visceral effect that a mosquito has on you through sound. Interestingly without having to overcomplicate the idea or the production.”

BMW Motorrad Splash Activation by FCB Cape Town:
“A clever example where activation/outdoor and online video blur. Is it more successful as an outdoor piece or as content? Either way, it’s intriguing and it’s entertaining and clearly highlights the bike’s benefit. I hope it had a visible impact on sales.”

Surf Shack ‘True Stories’ by Y&R South Africa:
“These are cool little content films. They’re telling interesting stories that are thought provoking and have a different approach to the usually laid back glamour of the surfing world we see. They’re nicely put together too.”

SAB Spike Detector Coaster

Judges Comments by Jenny Glover, Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris.

SAB Spike Detector Coaster by Ogilvy & Mather Jhb & Geometry South Africa:
“I never thought I’d vote for a coaster idea but this one for SAB is pretty smart.  The idea is relevant to the brand, addresses the problem in a user friendly way and the choice of coasters as the medium is spot on.”

Ster-Kinekor ‘Reign Of The IT Guy’ by FoxP2:
“The insight and writing in these spots made me smile and kept me listening to the very end. Job done.”

Surf Shack ‘True Stories’ by Y&R South Africa:
“These stories are beautifully and interestingly told. There’s clearly a massive amount of craft that’s gone into them yet they don’t feel overworked or laboured. I also think the writing is particularly good.”
