It was a whirlwind trip. From serenity to excitement to splendour to awe. And that was before shooting had even started. SA Tourism’s agency Avatar / Song & Dance had a vision for South Africa and needed cool heads, eagle eyes and quick thinkers to complete it in record time. Spitfire Director and Co-founder AK – along with an incredible team of producers and crew – was just what the project needed.

Shot over 7 days in Joburg, KZN and Cape Town, the new SA Tourism campaign, “South Africa Awaits — Come Find Your Joy!”, takes a flight of fancy over some of our country’s most spectacular sights and experiences, featuring well-known South Africans Zakes Bantwini and Wandile Mabaso and underscored by an extraordinary soundtrack from Vusi Mahlasela.

A formidable logistical challenge, AK’s talent for seeing the big picture and his ability to manage the many moving parts of large projects – with the in-camera skills to capture it every moment beautifully – helped SA Tourism find their joy in persuading international travellers to do the same. (And achieved in a head-spinning three weeks, from brief to material delivery.)
