ABOUT THE WORK
Katlego wins a call-up from Coke – and the world champions.
Could there be any greater prize for a Springbok fan than getting a call from Rassie to join the squad? Definitely not. We’d say it’s pretty close to the feeling Spitfire’s Katlego Baaitse had when he got the call from Joe Public to shoot Coca-Cola’s new commercial.
Coke is offering one extremely lucky fan the chance to hang out with the Boks for a day. With his well-established ability to get the very best out of his cast, coupled with a keen eye – and ear – for humour and authenticity, Katlego was the perfect call-up.
Brilliantly natural performances from the players are married to a warm colour grade which, along with the seamless integration of in-camera art department and post, results in a piece that is as believable as it is entertaining. A specially scored soundtrack, punctuated by the unmistakable sound of a Coke can being opened, energetically drives the pace of the edit to create a piece of work that’s as memorable as the once-in-a-lifetime prize itself. Rassie himself would be impressed.
