Project Description

The Task: We were asked to develop an identity for an innovative new cement brand based in the Eastern Cape that had set its sights on rivalling the big, established names in the industry.

The Idea: Cemza is building Africa with ‘engineered cement’, a term we created in reference to their specialised milling process and the fact that it’s durable, ultra-strong cement with a technological advantage. As a new entrant into the SA cement market, the company needed an impactful visual presence and a strong name. We were involved in every stage of creative development, from name generation to visual language and identity. We introduced a sophisticated element to the standard cement market with bold, flat, striking colours and an African aesthetic of traditional patterns. The patterns are woven together, reminiscent of the way that cement weaves into and becomes an integral part of large structures. The logo is inspired by the cement mixing process and the dynamic action of progress and change.
