Meet Capitol Collective with end-to-end production scaled the smart way

The main focus isn’t just the TV ad anymore. It’s every screen. Instagram, YouTube, digital billboards, stories, reels, square, widescreen, vertical. That’s where Capitol Collective thrives. They understand the new reality of advertising: campaigns don’t stop at the 30-second spot. The team is used to building entire ecosystems of content, from digital and social to billboards, stills, BTS and case studies, often shooting everything in parallel.

“What we do is shoot all content at the highest standard. It’s strategic, beautifully shot, ready for every platform,” says Executive Producer and Director Talia Hugo.

For over a decade, Capitol Collective has been the nimble production team behind big brand work in South Africa. If you haven’t heard of them, it’s because you may not have worked with them directly as more often than not they’re brought in by production companies to shoot and produce all the added content that surrounds a hero TVC, from cutdowns and billboards to stills and social edits. They’ve partnered with the likes of  Gentlemen Films, Carbon Films, Patriot and Dolph, while also building strong direct relationships with agencies and brands, creating digital content and case studies for Joe Public, VMLY&R Australia and FNB and iStore.

What sets them apart is their ability to scale and stay agile: they flex budgets intelligently, crewing up like a traditional production company or keeping things lean depending on the brief and, let’s be honest, the budget.

Here’s a taste of what Capitol Collective has been creating: from crewing and shooting the iStore Trade-In and Upgrade TVC for Dolph Graphic Video, to handling the entire Castle Milk Stout Savour Black Cocktail Experience project with Joe Public, and delivering the full Ford Everest Family Director’s Cut for VMLY&R Australia.

Founded by DOPs Mike Bell and Chase Beynon, and now joined by Executive Producer and Director Talia Hugo, the trio run a fully equipped production company with their own gear, a studio, and edit suites, giving clients end-to-end production under one roof, backed by years of experience working with top agencies and production companies.

If you’re wondering what it looks like when Capitol Collective leads a project, here are three stand-out examples: the MFS Africa Manifesto with Joe Public, FNB’s Springboks Needs Campaign, and the Nedbank Gogo Bear Case Study with Joe Public.

Their stills portfolio is just as strong with recent work for VMLY&R (Ford Everest), Patriot Films (Spotify), and Joe Public (MFS Africa).

As Mike Bell puts it, “We’ve always been the collaborators who make digital work happen. Agencies and production companies know they can rely on us to deliver, no matter the brief.”
