What happens when you miss the bus on Women’s Day? Marketing calendars and content plans are often dictated by important dates like Pride or Women’s month, but at CreateSA.tv, every month is Women’s month.

While they specialise in creating world-class TV Commercials, videos and stills content, CreateSA’s passion and purpose go beyond producing excellent work. Their powerhouse team of women directors, photographers, editors, producers and other creatives, is testament to their dedication towards diversity, equity and inclusion.

ELISMA UYS-HANEKOM
Executive Producer / Director

As the founder and driving force behind CreateSA, Elisma is a master at being a jack-of-all trades. During August she directed and produced two commercials and wrote a kick-ass article for Marklives about Gender Parity in Adland. Her passion and purpose in life is threefold:

  1. To champion diversity, equity and inclusion in the creative industries, 
  2. To promote local South African creatives, 
  3. To harness creativity to contribute towards positive change in society.

DELTA CHOSHI
Creative Director / Director / Culture Specialist

From the dusty streets of Alexandra township to bustling Berlin, this incredible powerhouse of a woman has more accolades, trades and talents than most people we know! She is a dancer. She is a director. She is a rapper. She is a DJ. She choreographs, she MCs, she influences. She travels the world and spreads her captivating magic everywhere she goes. Better known by her stage name, Delta The Leo, this rising star is someone you need to keep your eye on!

NICOLA SCOTT-BARRETT
Head of Art Department & Post Production

Nicola is a multi-talented professional, specialising in video editing and art direction. She is also an experienced producer, designer, and most recently, AI and visual prompt engineering. Her client portfolio includes large brands like Samsung, Bosch, Airbnb, Takealot, Illovo, Eat Out/Woolworths and KykNet, to name only a few. ​ 

With over 15 years of experience working on local and international TV commercial and stills productions in various departments, Nicola has a thorough understanding of what it takes to create engaging, authentic and professional content, from conception to final execution.

LUCINDA OHLSON
Director / Writer

Lucinda is a writer and director, known for her ability to bring high-concept narrative to life through her imagination and passion for creative excellence. Lucinda has directed TVCs for esteemed brands such as Allan Gray, Nedbank, Magnum and Unilever, and has written and directed short films and music videos that challenge norms and explore universally relevant themes. 

Of her many achievements, the most recent is The People Of The Sun, an avant-garde short film that delves into the world of the San. Directed by Lucinda, this film has been selected for various festivals, including the Edmonton International Film Festival (Canada), the British Urban Film Festival, and the Aesthetica Film Festival (UK).

LIEZL ZWARTS
Photographer

Liezl is an award-winning international photographer, boasting a comprehensive portfolio and client list, including local and global brands such as Nike, POLO, H&M, Converse, Lola & Sophie, Uber Eats, Ballantine’s, Jameson, Viceroy, Hunter’s, Foschini, FNB, Old Mutual, Nedbank, Alexander Forbes, and many more. 

Liezl has a unique ability to capture authentic moments and human emotion, which, combined with her technical skill and two decades of experience, makes her one of the most versatile and talented photographers in South Africa and abroad.

BASETSANA MALULEKA
Photographer

Basetsana is a commercial and fashion photographer living and working between South Africa and Australia. As a devoted, passionate, queer and colourful creative, she draws inspiration from real life experiences and shines a light on some of the social issues surrounding African women and women across the border. ​ Some of her proudest career highlights include being selected as one of the Young Emerging Creatives at the Design Indaba in 2020, shooting an international Puma campaign with Nomzamo Mbatha, and more recently getting her work published in Photo Vogue. ​Her client portfolio further includes ABSA, NIKE, Airbnb, Zara and more.

JODI BIEBER
Photographer

Jodi Bieber’s passion and concerns lie with her birth country, South Africa. Her practice engages with the political, societal, and economic circumstances of our times. Her life experiences have influenced and inspired her photographic choices. Central themes explored deal with contemporary issues related to Gender, Politics, and Identity, often contradicting the mainstream media narrative.

Her photographic projects are exhibited both locally and internationally in museums, galleries, festivals, and institutions. She has won numerous international awards, including the Premier Award at World Press Photo in 2010 for her photograph of Bibi Aisha. The photograph appeared on the cover of TIME Magazine and CNN, and The New York Times included it among the top 100 influential images of the previous decade.
