ABOUT THE WORK
The recent SAB Sharp campaign, directed by Fausto Becatti, delivers a powerful message about the dangers of drinking and driving, brought to life through its impactful sound design and final mix by Alex Smillie.
Alex’s meticulous sound design draws the audience into the narrative, transitioning from atmospheric textures to the evocative rumble of a car engine, seamlessly connecting the audio to the unfolding visuals. Carefully crafted sound cues, such as screeching tires and a symbolic lightning crash representing a car accident, add depth and emotional weight to the stories, creating a visceral and immersive experience.
In the final mix, Alex achieved a delicate balance between dialogue, music, and sound design, ensuring the voices of the families remained front and center while enhancing the storytelling with nuanced audio layers. His work elevated the campaign’s emotional resonance, delivering a cinematic and unforgettable audio experience that underscored the campaign’s critical message.
