Promise is an independent, owner managed full-service creative agency. Having started from the rather humble beginnings of a dining room table with no clients 16 years ago, we understand the value of working hard and smart for every client that joins our family. We have a saying “Great clients can be hard to find. Look for them. When you find them, cherish them”. It’s what makes us who we are – a journey of shared partnership with our clients. In saying this, we believe creativity is our currency. Always looking for the opportunities within our client briefs, to make work that really matters. We don’t believe work should ever be creatively indulgent. Our clients have put way more faith in us than that. For us, creativity that works is what we get up for everyday – and that’s not to say it should ever be dull. Over the years we’ve carefully built a team of like-minded problem solvers with an appetite for seeking out new and fresh ways of doing things. A team that looks for a solution before a problem. A can-do attitude that makes collaboration our secrete sauce. We are a through-the-line agency, not that agencies speak this way anymore – as you’re either a full-service agency, or you’re not. All skills sit in-house. However, with the influence of the global pandemic, our team no longer needs to be geographically positioned. Now more than ever, agency culture plays a key role in how we work when it’s not always possible to be together. Creative prowess sits in many agencies, but how you choose to be creative is unique to each. We spend a great deal of time creating an agency environment that clients and agency team members feel comfortable in to do the hard work of advertising. An agency that acknowledges ideas can come from anyone and anywhere. A culture of inclusion – and when we get it all right, one can see it in the work.
Whilst having won at both local and international award shows, awards are not what drives our strategy. We have a responsibility to create work that really works – spending a great deal of time understanding the data behind our campaigns to garner fresh insights for more effective and memorable creative moving forward. However, being ranked as a top creative agency by Loeries 2020, a multiple gold winner at the Assegai Awards 2020, a previous Financial Mail Agency of the Year winner, as well as “MarkLives Agency to Watch” in both Johannesburg and South Africa – the accolades are merely a cherry on top.
