Ciclope Africa 2018 – The Winning Work

Ciclope Africa 2018 – The Winning Work

The first ever Ciclope Africa Awards, which recognises craft excellence in moving image, was held last night at the Zeitz MOCCA Museum in Cape Town. If you happen to visit the Museum today, don’t be fooled, those people slouched in the corner drenched in gin, clutching their awards and clamoring for another pork belly canapé, aren’t part of an edgy art exhibition…that’s just life.

This year’s Ciclope Africa Grand Prix winner, as well as the best entry in each category, received an automatic entry to the flagship festival, which will be held in Berlin later this year, as well as being included as a shortlist winner at the international festival. FYI – our travel schedule over that time is wide open, in case you require some companionship #GotYourBack

Massive congrats to all the iDidTht companies who managed to grab some metal, or in this case a fat pink rubbery Cyclops statuette (batteries not included). A special shout-out goes to 0307 for being awarded the ‘Production Company of the Year’, and to FCB Africa for being named ‘Agency of the Year’ #WeExpectBigThings #NoPressure. Below we showcase all the work from the iDidTht companies that were awarded.

About Ciclope

Ciclope has been held annually since 2010, focusing on the art of execution, rather than the ideas. Whether it’s a TV commercial, a mobile app or an interactive installation, Ciclope believes execution is as important as the idea. Ciclope Africa was showcase and celebration of the very best of the year over the entire African continent in categories such as Direction, 3D Animation, Visual Effects, Interactive Commercials and Orginal Music among others.

Jurors who were awarding metal include well-known local and international names like Alistair King (King James, South Africa); Amy Allais (Ola! Films, South Africa); Antoine Bagot (Ogilvy Paris, France); Debra Stubbs (Groundglass, South Africa); Fran Luckin (Grey); Ivor Mwela (Jupiter Drawing Room, Zambia); Kim Geldenhuys (0307); Markus Wormstorm (Biblo, South Africa); Neo Mashigo (M&C Saatchi, South Africa); Nizar Maalej (Havas, Tunisia); Ralph Laucella (O Positive, US); Teboho Mahlatsi (The Bomb, South Africa); Trish Russell (AMV BBDO, UK); Yash Deb (Isobar, Kenya); and Zandi Tisani (Arcade Content, South Africa) to name but a few.

*Important note: All credits were supplied by Ciclope. iDidTht will update any additional credits by iDidTht Companies should we receive any further information.
